Specimen Requirements
 
Patient Preparation:  If Tanner stage reference ranges are required, order FSH performed by ARUP (REF44).
 
Collect:  One red gel 8.0 mL (also acceptable: plain red 9.0 mL)
 
Transport:   1.0 mL (min: 0.5 mL) serum refrigerated
Separate serum from cells ASAP.
 
Unacceptable Conditions:  Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, icteric
 
Stability:  Ambient: 24 Hours / Refrigerated: 7 Days / Frozen: 14 Days
